Phil brings to his clients strategic thinking and seasoned business judgment formed during his 30-year business career as a commercial lender, investment banker, entrepreneur, and corporate director. He has held various line and management positions with some of the nation’s most successful commercial banking organizations, including Chemical Bank (now JP Morgan Chase), Bank One, M&I Bank, and US Bank. Known as an “outside the box” thinker and for his spirited “can do” attitude, Phil has started up two financial services businesses, owned his own investment banking boutique, and served as a corporate director of three privately-held companies and a large family foundation.  His business experience covers a broad range of industries, including industrial products, printing, packaging, office furniture, contracting, banks, credit unions, and service firms.

Phil’s expertise is in strategic planning and tactical execution, commercial lending and capital raising, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), leveraged finance, banking and credit, and business development.

  • 20 plus years of commercial loan originations with no significant loan losses
  • Division Manager for large bank, leading its commercial banking and specialty lending units
  • Head of Corporate Development for large Milwaukee bank; responsible for implementing strategic and tactical planning programs and corporate acquisition activities
  • Financial advisor to NASDAQ company in shareholder spin-off of $1.5 billion subsidiary; raised $50 million in subordinated capital
  • Financial advisor to privately-held office furniture manufacturer in three separate, leveraged finance transactions; raised over $200 million in capital
  • Led start-up of business services firm supporting credit unions across the US
  • Owned investment banking boutique focused on providing M&A and capital-raising services to small and medium-sized companies; closed numerous buy and sell-side M&A deals
  • Led start-up of investment banking practice for a regional brokerage firm
